Buy Local Campaign
The Buy Local Campaign is gaining traction by leveraging social media, push notifications, and digital tools to promote new tourism members and encourage local support. By digitising the platform, we have simplified sign-ups, captured real-time data, and provided visitors with accurate and updated information on local goods and services, reinforcing the KZN South Coast’s circular economy. Free memberships are extended until 30 June 2025, with businesses and consumers increasingly benefitting from this initiative.

Social Media
Our data-driven social media strategy has been instrumental in driving awareness and engagement, delivering over 1 million impressions last quarter, growing our audience to more than 14,000 Facebook (Meta) followers, and driving significant cross-platform engagement. Daily updates focused on high-quality, relevant content has boosted interest in the KZN South Coast, reinforcing its status as a premier tourism destination. These metrics reflect the prominence of our platforms, but also the effectiveness of our campaigns in showcasing the KZN South Coast as a top-tier tourism destination.
Website
The SCTIE website continues to evolve as a central hub for regional tourism. Key updates include the expansion of the ‘Specials & More’ page, improvements to the ‘Events Calendar’ and enhanced user-friendly navigation for local, national, and international tourists. Upcoming features, such as a ‘Digital Magazine & Brochure’ will further enhance the visitor experience with offline usage. With over 100 updates and two dozen software enhancements, implemented this quarter, the website continues to provide seamless navigation and showcases a diverse range of listings, ensuring visitors can easily find and explore activities, accommodations, and attractions in the region.
Push Notifications
Our Push Notification strategy has doubled its impact since the last quarter. By focusing not only on events, blogs, and milestones, but also on specific tourism features and attractions, we’ve significantly boosted audience engagement both online and offline. These real-time updates ensure stakeholders and visitors are immediately informed about key developments, adding value to our digital communications, while increasing regional visibility.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Our enhanced SEO strategies continue to drive growth in website traffic and visibility. Using optimised content tailored to search algorithms and user intent, we’ve achieved improved organic rankings and online engagement. Looking ahead, we’re preparing to launch new campaigns alongside our ongoing SEO initiatives to further expand our reach locally and globally. SCTIE Event Calendar & Guide
Our digital Events Guide & Calendar has become an indispensable resource for showcasing the vibrant array of happenings on the KZN South Coast. This quarter, we’ve expanded our listings to include more festivals, community events, and seasonal celebrations, particularly during the busy summer months. By offering visitors easy access to what’s happening and where we’ve elevated the visibility of local tourism establishments and created a dynamic platform for promoting the region’s unique cultural and recreational offerings. Database Management
By maintaining up-to-date online listings through monthly POPI-compliant push notifications, internal mailers, and communications, visitors can easily access accurate information for contacting operators, making bookings, and exploring accommodations, adventures, products, and services. This streamlined approach has enhanced both online and offline engagement, driving increased interest in local tourism, especially ahead of the festive season.
Blog & Explore the KZN South Coast App
Our Blog remains a vital tool for sharing fresh and engaging content with our audience while attracting new visitors. Coupled with continuous updates to the ‘Explore KZN South Coast’ app, we’ve ensured both platforms are aligned and updated through an integrated CMS, which offers convenient features such as Google Maps integration, contact options for operators, and real-time information on events and specials. With increasing downloads and usage on both iOS and Google Play stores, the app has revolutionised the way visitors explore the region, encouraging greater interest in local tourism.
